engine and drivetrain 2.5L from a 525i is it a good engine conversion?

I have a 1970 2002 trying to do it with an s14 M3 engine but i have not found the right one. Need some info, whats your suggestion.

For the price of the engine alone (before any needed engine parts, machine work, and ancilliary components) you can do a full m20b25 conversion.

Many s14's have seen a lot of use (read abuse) and may need some extensive work.

How do I know about pricing? I'm doing one. I have what I consider to be 90% of the parts assembled and I havn't even come close to the cost of a used s14 CORE without harness, ecu...

The power is sufficient to satisfy even the hungriest of addicts. (rode in one last week)

if it is a 525i. The only years that had the m20 are 81-90. Only 88-90 had the 170hp version. The others are 150 I think. 525e had 125hp.

You will need a transmission... this you should consider your most critical path.
