Guest Anonymous
It is my understanding that on a normal 5 speed conversion, the driveshaft is shortened 3.5 or 3.6 inches. Additionally, I understand that on the m20 conversion, the driveshaft final length is about 3 3/16 shorter than the original 02 driveshaft. Would it be acceptable for me to fabricate a spacer out of flat stock to make up the difference in length between the guibo and the 5sp conversion driveshaft that I have? Would I have any "issues"? would the guibo still function as it should? M20 conversion novice/02 enthusiast extraordinaire Bill
Guest Anonymous
the guibo actually doesn't center the shaft. That's the job of the shaft itself- it sticks thru the center of the guibo, and engages a bushing in the nose of the driveshaft. I dunno how much extra's designed into it. Otherwise, it would seem to be OK. Having shafts made is foooking expensive, if you want to do it right. Oh, HEY! See if you can find the front section off a 320 auto shaft. I remember finding out that it was about 1/2" too LONG for the 5- speed conversion, which would put it RIGHT where you want it. hth, Toby
