Diff Questions - Found something strange

Hi,

I just pulled a diff from my manual & found that there were an additional 4 bolt holes in the diff output flanges, set out evenly as though to connect a CV flange that had four holes. Where would this diff have come from.

The p/n is 1201 5510 GGG42 (GGG could be 666)

I also have a diff from my Auto P.N. 1201 5260 GTS35

Any info on either of these diffs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Richard

are to accomodate the earlier, u- joint axle shafts.

I THINK that they were common on cars until about '72 or so, but my cars may have been mix-n-matched

The diff's came drilled for the CV Style halfshafts and the earlier needle-bearing/u-joint type shafts....

I personally have seen those diffs from 68 cars to 70 they probably go later I just haven't seen any....Also the needle-bearing type also uses six hole but the one middle hole is shared!!
