Howdy I'm new to all this... I was looking at a'73tii,

(it would be my first 02)the key would go into the

ignition but not turn, and the steering was jammed

as well, the car is stored in a barn and the farmer

renting it (the barn) moved the car somehow to

store hay. Otherwise the car seems OK, how can I

unjam the steering?

Mine locks so, the steering itself may not be jammed. Since the key cannot turn it very well may just be "locked" and unable to unlock yet. Just a thought...

1. Try ignition key in the door locks. If it works the door locks, chances are it's the correct key for the ignition.

2. Insert ignition key, and turn the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. The wheel should have a little play--a little wiggling should loosen the steering lock sufficiently to allow the steering to unlock. A little WD40 squirted into the lock couln't hurt either.

If it still doesn't work, you may have to remove the whole steering column and take it to a locksmith. And that's a major PITA as it's held with shear bolts.

Hope the wiggling works...

cheers

Mike
