Got an e-mail from a guy asking about THE 02

GROUP (an NC based 2002 owners group I

started last year). He mentioned he was

interested in joining so I sent him a lengthy e-mail

telling him about the group and even sent a few

pics from our past events.

He replied saying that he thought it was a BMW

2002 model year, not 2002 the car, club.

What a goober! Did he think a new club sprouted

up every year? I guess the 2002 confusion

continues.

700's are cool I want to build myself one someday. I heard they kick ass in the under 1000c.c. class. Keep on trucking Al, -A

On another BMW note I am looking for this interior in good condition.

Antelope Foreign, in the Sacramento area, will be putting a '62 700 on Ebay this week. I took about 50 pictures of it and will be starting the auction for them as soon as I can make a webpage up. Its a basket-case, but definitely restorable. A solid shell with some rust areas, two transaxles and two engines. There are some parts missing, but they're not sure which ones since its all in boxes.

Is it possible to take a look at the car first hand at their yard? I've got the 700 itch and a drive to Sac might be in order. Do you know if it's a CS, C, S, LS, (etc)? Original race prep (roll bar etc)? I'm looking for something even more obscure to put on the track to confuse the M3 crowd... :)

There was an Alpina E12 for sale here in the island some time ago. It was rusty beyond feasible repair but was complete, including an interior very similar to the one in your pic.

I went to see it and the engine was turbocharged (B12?) and it had a close ratio tranny.

From what I have heard, someone from the mainland bought it and shipped it back for a complete restoration. It would be interesting to find out where it is now.

BTW, thanks for the tip on shipping the early car back to Miami. I have not been able to talk to the owner yet, but will keep all of you posted on what I find.

Regards,

HarryPR
