Old man rant at the youth style of the moment.

Confession!

After spending most of the day in the shop, then going to a 7p meet in cold Florida weather, I wore my hoodie as I was driving home.

But, my heater is not connected, door seals not on, no interior except drivers seat. It was COLD.

And to top it off, I couldn't find my house keys. I had to find a street light, in the cold , dark night and search for the dam keys. Hoodie still on. I wonder if I looked suspect.

And that flimsy piece of fleece or cotton really keept your head warm enough to justify endangering you, your 02 and everyone around you?

Glad you made it home.

I must be unfamiliar with hoodies in general. Mine has a draw string which allows me secure it in such a way as to move with my head.

As far as endangering my car, self or others I fail to see that. I work in the ED and to date we have not had a hoodie/MVC related admission. Not saying it isn't possible.

Additionally my hoodie is a thick cotton (Polo) that I bought specifically to keep warm. So yes, it did keep me warmer. The scarf helped.

I appreciate the generality of things great and small yet I'm unsure of the wardrobe danger correlation when properly worn.

I myself get pretty annoyed at my generation. I'm 19. A lot of kids my age seem to buy a car, get it as low as possible, buy "rare" wheels and stretch the tires.

It is their money and their cars so I mean I don't really care but what annoys me is the lack of respect for the older crowd (who actually know a ton) and lack of respect for cars.

My families e30 was posted on a forum by the shop that did a lot of work to it. Some people were disgusted that the front wheel gap was a bit bigger then the rear (the famous e30 reverse rake) even though it is on H&R Race and Bilstein.

I could go on and on of annoying trends, "derty e30", stuff hanging from tow hooks, etc. etc.

My point is I don't blame you for being upset with my generation but keep in mind there are still a few of us who appreciate a "real" car.

EDIT If you really want to see younger kids dress like clowns, go to your local ski mountain / youtube, go to the terrain park. These kids my age are wearing their pants at their knees, a XL Jacket, and I guess they look "cool".

Some of the skiers must buy their poles from the kids section considering they are half the length they should be. Best part of it is most of them can't really do anything impressive except ski around acting "cool" and making fun of other kids actually putting forth effort to get better. There is the end of my rant :)[/b]

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
