Old man rant at the youth style of the moment.

Hoodies. It should be punishable by death for an idiot to drive a car wearing a hoodie. Ok. I'll give you the ski hat in the middle of the summer if you want but I got to draw the line at the hoodie while driving like a dick in traffic. I mean, do you really not care about yourself or anyone around you? Why not go all the way and wear a flippen blindfold?

Douchbags.

Hehehe... I use a few of these stereotypes to my advantage when I'm driving.

I almost always wear a hoodie when I am working on a car for a long period of time. The hood is like a portable pillow that also keeps your head clean when lying on a greasy floor. When driving, I never wear the hood up on my hoodie, but I will prop it up on my neck and start swerving erratically if a neighboring car refuses to let me merge.

On top of that, I do wear a baseball hat much of the time. Being the punk-kid that I am, it can come in pretty handy for the same reasons as a hoodie.

The best item to wear if you want to get your way while driving though is a helmet. Any kind of helmet will do, but I prefer my Simpson auto racing helmet. I have a dark visor mounted on it which prevents others from seeing my face when it is down. If I wear that while in a car, making your neighbors worry is quite an easy thing to do. When they worry, they slow down which lets me merge...

Ok, continue your old man rant...

  • 2 weeks later...

my favorite is the rolling homeless shelter/hoarder nest... you know, the cars that have soooo much crap in them, there is only barely enough room for the driver to sit in the rubble... yeah thats nice...

Or the people who hang shit from the rear bumper of their cut spring slammed honda/VW. More than anything, I hate this "stretch/poke" shit. It looks terrible, at least when it's finally over there will be tons of nice wheels for my track car, once all those people realize how stupid 15x9's look on a car that fits 15x7 max.

Confession!

After spending most of the day in the shop, then going to a 7p meet in cold Florida weather, I wore my hoodie as I was driving home.

But, my heater is not connected, door seals not on, no interior except drivers seat. It was COLD.

And to top it off, I couldn't find my house keys. I had to find a street light, in the cold , dark night and search for the dam keys. Hoodie still on. I wonder if I looked suspect.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
