Joe,

Fantastic sh!t you got going on there. I had to have most of what you are doing hired out. When it came to the fenders I had a similar issue. In hindsight I wish I had done flares. I want them now but $$$.

If you lived closer I would drive over and help. Then you could help me replace my back plates. Still waiting to do that d@m job.

Its been a few busy years since an update, unfortunately not busy in the sense of getting this project done, went back to school for 2.5 years, had a kid, got a full-time job. But now I'm back on track and very motivated to get this done for the spring. Since the last update I welded in the towers, cut out the entire trunk, replaced the diff mounts, framed in the trunk and made a fuel cell mount and recessed storage area (not pictured). I'm thinking in the future I'm going to redo the fuel cell cage, raising it into the trunk more and replacing the 1x1 square stock with angle stock to save some weight. Ended up buying a mechanical pedal box a while back without realizing it, a little cutting and welding and it fits the master. Went to bolt the pedal box in and realized the replacement panel I made was off by quite a bit, so that was cut out, after a "few" attempts I finally remembered how to work with sheet metal and got a nice fitting panel, thats going to be welded in this week. New Aasco flywheel was installed, transmission bolted on and dropped back in. Dug into my wiring, made a replacement ATC fuse panel that replicates the stock box that will be relocated to the inside of the firewall along with the relays, wiper switch, flasher, and diagnostic plug, and plan to run an auxiliary fuse/relay behind the drivers seat or maybe the passenger if it fits along with the battery. Bought a second heater box that needs a little love, a lot of cracks but has a working motor and doesn't appear to have any leaks, working on repairing/reinforcing the cracks now, I have faith that it will come out well enough to either keep as a spare or possibly sell off. Other than that Im collecting alot of electrical and other parts to get this up and running, need to finish the mounting of my electric fan and e21 radiator then I can get the it wired up and running for the first time in roughly 20 years.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
