i emailed the seller asking for details on the special edition europa or what exactly it was...here's his reply, in part:

"hello, special edition europa sport means there were only 10 made in the world by a custom shop in europe when these cars were made. they were soled for 3X the regular price because there were so little made and made so nicely."

I was unaware of the existence of such a model. Surely it is the rarest of the rare. ;-)

I actually like the kooky look of the car, but couldn't get excited about the Automagic.

That's brilliant!

Sad thing is, someone might actually believe it.

Esty,

Forgot to mention that when you picked up my old car from Andy recently, it is a special edition Ohio roadster-chop top.

How's it progressing?

i know how special your old topless is...i have it's pedigree papers, thanks to you...hopefully next spring/summer we'll be able to figure out how to replace the rockers...i found a new set on the board here but although we own a welder, we don't know how to weld

when i got it i drove it around the neighborhood a couple of times and it got loads of attention...i'm glad you built it and bless andy for dealing with me

It is the funky tail lights>>>what is with those? I bet those stripes add at least 5hp.

Maybe since it is the ULTRA rare model that is why we have never heard of it. Not just the regular rare model. I bet it is more coveted than "Diana". Who needs one of 13, when you can have one of 10!

WOW, it also has a motor in it too!

ARGH!!!! i bought the stupid minimal rust car and have rebuilt a bunch of stuff when I could have had this! man I am stupid.

1970 Grey 02 (the never ending project)
2007 328xi coupe (DD)

and a couple hondas for the kid.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
