Guest Anonymous
the pulley is off by maybe an 1/8" and you'd need a larger belt to make it work. Luckily I had a few "spare" 320 and 318 alternators. All other hookups are the same. But for me, it was too much work and brain power to try to figure it out. Maybe you could either put washers by the pulley or grind away some of the body of the alt. and add etc, etc to get it to work. Good luck, Rob
Guest Anonymous
URL: http://www.zeebuck.com/02bc/index.htm I realize now after looking very carefully that the alignment of the 318i alt pulley is not perfect - it is maybe 1/8"-1/4" rearward of the crank and WP pulleys. It has not been a problem for me in the few thousand miles since I did the swap, but I am thinking that I could either move the pulley forward on the shaft (cause there's lots of extra thread) or perhaps use the original 2002 pulley onthe 318i alt. If neither option is viable, I'd just as well leave it alone. I have had no problems so far with belt wear, or noise, and consider the alignment much better than the typical '02 with rotten alt bushings. ;-) Hmmm... I guess I should update my web page describing the swap! regards, Zenon
