This is the guy who got me started in 02s, and--as many of you have said--uncannily knows just what part you mean when you say "it's the kinda round but kinda square semi-metallic looking thing with the wire and what looks like a vaccuum tube but maybe not and it's mounted above the starter kinda to the left." On top of all that, he's just a hell of a guy...the kind who rides back to Front Royal, Va., from Mid-Atlantik 02 Fest II to fetch you after AAA has carted your 2002 back to Baltimore after its diff took a permanent vacation...

I know we haven't heard the last of him, but let me join all of you in wishing Paul all the best in his new ventures...who knows where they may lead.

I always admire those who can, indeed, follow their bliss.

Lucas%20Prince%20of%20Darkness.jpg

who will be able to understand what you say will be Nick and Richard from the UK. All we will hear about will be bonnets, boots and spanners once the Prince of Darkness is finished with messing up your mind.

Thanks for helping all of us out and keep in touch!

The Nigel follower connects to the Rodney device, allowing the vertical Phillip cylinder to encompass the charles valve, and Bob's your Uncle!

Those little pistons rely on the smoke from the Lucas wiring to work properly. When the Lucas is working, the SU's aren't.

It's rare to deal with a vendor who is also a die-hard enthusiast, but even more important (and harder to find) is someone who is genuinely friendly and cares equally about his customers as he does about the product he sells.

Paul, you definitely made a difference, which is something a lot of people cannot say they have accomplished at work. I hope you are able to continue doing so at your next place of employment.

Every Lucas switch has at least three positions... On, Off and Flicker! This isn't very funny if you have a car that actually does this tho. My Jag's headlight switch(es) do this.

You gonna start hangin' out on the British car forums now Paul? 8-)

Cheerio,

Dan

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
