and have had problems with broken or cracked glovebox latches--the part that goes inside the glovebox. When it breaks and/or jams, you can't get the glovebox open and must break the outside part (and potentially damage the glovebox itself) to gain access.

Did a little checking on Realoem and discovered the latch is available by itself as a spare part, so you don't have to buy the exterior handle with its lock and key (or even a non-locking one.)

P/N is 51161955759...and Steve (Blunt) has 'em.

After my second used one broke on me, I decided to go for new. Hope they're sturdier.

cheers

Also for the E30 crowd, (subtitled- why can't I get anything like this for my 2002)

I ordered up a pair of E30 plastic grilles from AutohausAz- Aftermarket brand, on close-out. Less than $15 each. Worth the gamble.

At first look, the backside looks a little cheesy, but it doesn't show. The front side has the proper matte finish and looks OK. I didn't install them, so I'm not sure about the fit yet. But for 30 bucks, even if the fit is slightly off they'll look better than broken parts.

and another e30 "also"

e30's have no cup holders. want one or two? check the parts for sale section on r3vlimited.com. there is a guy with a long thread who sells nice looking ones for both the ebrake location and the area in front of the shifter.

e30 outside temp sensors die regularly. in same section of r3v there is guy who makes replacements cheap.

I had to take the cup holder apart and cut it down so I could grab the auto trans handle.

It is my assessment that the temp sensor is ok, but the connector to the multifunction clock box is flakey. The new sensor did the same thing as the old one. If it looses contact, open curcuit goes to -22f. The resistance of the replacement is not same as OEM and so you get an erroneous reading. Anybody want the replacement? I cut it out and is in my misc. box.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

bummer. seems like there are tons of happy customers for both cupholder and temp sensor. i have a temp sensor on the way. my clock/temp unit currently reads about 40deg high all the time.

planning on ordering the ebrake version of the cup holder.

Whew, that would result in some scary readings here in Southern Arizona in the summer.

My E30 glovebox did not fail at the latch, but at the back end (toward the firewall) where it is anchored. The brittle plastic broke up badly back there. Now with a better used glovebox it works fine. When I got the car, the glovebox was hanging by a thread -- closing it securely took several tries.

As you can imagine, the box needs to be adjusted perfectly or the latch will bind. I ran into this when putting in my stereo. Ya gotta get it so you don't feel any drag or tension on the latch.

Idk. Worked for me so far.
