Its a two part plan on the exhaust support bracket. One that bolts to the trans, and a second bracket that clamps over the down pipe AND connects to the first bracket at the trans.. but it isolated by $60 worth of little (BMW) sleeves and rubber bits. I used parts from tractor supply (or any hardware store) to serve as the isolators. This bracket system prevents the weight and lateral swing of the exhaust system from splitting the down pipe and/or the exhaust manifold itself.

The starter support, I personally left behind, after I switched to a smaller starter from a later car. (common move) Its a pain in the ding ding to mess with, and the stock starter is a massive chunk of antiquated dead weight.

2002 newbie, and dead serious about it.
