When I'm speeding down the highway in my '74 2002, gas pedal pressed, all's fine. When I let up off the gas pedal, still cruising along, I can see white smoke pouring out of my tail pipe. Is this normal or is there something wrong here? I have to add oil periodically as it drops a little low.

Light gray smoke on de-cel may mean bad valve seals. The knowledgeable can tell you about the motor sitting at an angle, vacuum and all those technical things I know nothing of.

Are you sure it's white and not blueish? Also what weight oil do you use? I used 10w40 for a while and could blow a HUGE cloud out of the back of my car on decel. You should be using 20w50, it helps a lot. And even with new valve seals and 20w50 on decel you will smoke a little. But the general code for smoke is;

White= Coolant

Grey/Black= Fuel (too rich)

Blue= Oil

Hope this helps!
