Guest Anonymous
I am still doing a lot of preliminary work on my turbo project. I need to know what are the parts that need to be upgraded as far as the drivetrain and chassis go. Such as axle flanges, etc... I will be making what needs to be upgraded unless the parts are already made, cheap, and easy to find.
Guest Anonymous
your car probably already has the typical front subframe reinforcement weld, but take a look again and make sure. I have seen a freshly cracked-up subframe, that was reinforced, from the power of a 2.5L S14 stroker in a 1973 tii. Probably a good idea to try to replicate specs that the original turbos had, and then some. Check half shafts, make sure diff is in good order, no space at flange, and then there is drive shaft support and guibo, hell... just about everything is suspect and needs to be in fresh/strong shape when you want to put a bunch of horses and torque through the car. Upgrade the motor mounts too if not already done.Be prepared for the golden rule: if it is borderline, it will definately * the bucket with added stress of auto-x, track days, or increased power, and most likely it will happen at the least convenient time. Now that I have drizzled on the parade, know that once you check and sort out components, you will have a great time in a light car with a bunch of power. And you can rationalize that you would eventually have to deal with the replaced/improved components someday anyway. Good luck!///
Guest Anonymous
a 6 bolt rather than 8 bolt guibo to be attached to the... "yoke." Another brace can be added between the motor and subframe as well. Cheers, Ray
