CA Smog questions

What are the smog standards used for 49 state vehicles brought in to CA? Are they the same as for the CA version of the car? If so, does my 49 state 76 '02 have a chance?

Also what will be the effect of the new testing for the bay area?

One last question, not about emissions. I tested the dwell on my car and it jumped around +_5 degrees at least. Will a Pertronix ignition solve this, or will I still have to rebuild/replace the distibuter.

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you move to CA from somewhere else and your car can be ID'ed as a 49 state emissions car, you should be home free as long as all the correct emissions stuff is still installed.

The only time I ever heard of people running afoul of the CA vs 49 state emissions issue was when people who lived in CA went out of state to buy a car, brought it back to CA and tried to register it as a new car (I lived about 70 miles from the Oregon border in the early 70's). If it had never been registered anywhere else first, that was a no-no.
