Does anyone have information on the cams produced byHardy & Beck? I just one a described "Hardy & Beck 280" along with a Norris 301 cam on ebay. I've got info on the Norris (main reason I bought the pair), but nothing on the H&B. From what I can tell in the pictures, the H&B appears to have started as a new billet or a weld & grind. I'm 90% sure the Norris is a regrind. Any info available would be great. I'll definitely get some measurements when they arrive as well.

I don't recall Hardy & Beck selling their "own" cams, but then again maybe they did at some point. I do remember they offered the Norris 301 in their catalogue. They (Hardy & Beck, now known as H&B BMW service) is still in business so you could probably call and get the info you desire.

The top one in the picture has got to be a regrind as the base circle looks to be reduced, and the degree's you mentioned wouldn't require reducing the base circle if it was a billet.

I don't really know much about those cams other than that.

That was my read too...that the top was a regrind. Though I can't confirm it's the Norris, I've always read that Norris cams were always regrinds. It'll be interesting to see what markings are on the cam and if I can determine the actual manufacturer. I'm at sea right now, but when we pull in I'll probably swing by H&B and see if they can provide any info.

H&B provided a cam for me years ago. I noticed when I got it that the cam lobes had pits left in the cam surface from the "near net chill casting" technique. The pits were there after the machining. I made them take back the cam and bought a new cam (292).

Check for pits.
