Sorry for no pictures. I just got back from two day track event at NJMP. There where 5 2002s in attendance. Three where race/track cars and two where street. I got rides in the two of the prepped 2002's and the other street car.

My car was very satisfying to drive around the track - it has suspension mods ( IE stuff ) but nothing crazy. The fact that the 2002 is still viable today shows how it must have blown everyone away when it was first introduced.

Very cool I'm looking forward to doing multiple 2002's on a track day too hopefully soon at Willow Springs. Do you have any photos of the day ?

Bob was my instructor at Watkins Glen ( so you know I learned a thing or two). I got a couple rides with Bob and one with Fred.

The ride with Fred actually blurred my vision on turn 4.

I can't believe how much fun it is to go to the track.

"The fact that the 2002 is still viable today shows how it must have blown everyone away when it was first introduced." I still remember when my wife and I were on a ride over mount hood and I passed a Chevy SS396. The driver must have not liked me showing him upto his girlfriend. He came roaring up behid me in to a curve. I watched him in my mirror as he tried ot keep it out of the ditch on the curve that I went around at 70. My wife would take on guys at the stop light with the 1600 and most of the time beat them. They couldn't believe that a girl in a 96 cubic inch cr could do that well. G

Yes it was great to have so many 2002's there. The other one's were Vic Lucarello Sr. (Malaga) and Frank Keytanjian (dark blue). Both Bob's and mine are Colorado Orange. All five were square tail. Bob and I had fun running nose to tail on Monday's last session. This was the Lightning track at NJMP. Sorry for the blurry vision, I did not even go off at turn 4 this time!

Best,

Of course I'm out of the country for this event.

In china in fact.. Side note to self: This country is car crazy!

Anyway, 2002s are more than capable of running with newer hardware at the track. Too much fun.

I generally look for a spec 1.6L miata to run with as well. Good times.

When it rains, then the 02 is more than capable of passing everyone else. Who says you need a V8 unless you use it to tow your race car.

Next year for sure. Maybe we can get to an event with even more of us next spring.....
