I'm trying to install three-point seat belts in a 1970 02 which came drilled with holes for a two-point seat belts. Does anyone know of any installation instructions or advice to make sure I do this the right/safe way? Thx!

midpoint of the rear quarter window sill? If so you already have two of the necessary three mounting points for inertia reels.

I did this on my '69 back around 1974/5 and it's been working fine ever since. I mounted the outboard end of the lap portion of the belt in the existing mounting hole at the base of the B pillar (door post). I then drilled a hole in the rear seat cushion riser as close as possible to the outboard edge of the riser, reinforced the opening with two large fender washers and mounted the inertia reel there. Be sure to mount the reel vertically so as not to disturb the inertia reel lockup mechanism. Finally, I mounted the shoulder belt loop in the existing mount under the quarter window.

I glued a small piece of leather to the vertical edge of the back seat cushion where the seat belt webbing rubs against the seat to prevent wear to the upholstery.

The only drawback to the setup is that the inertia reel takes up slowly when you release it, but functions perfectly in a quick stop or accident. Been working fine for me for 35 or so years...and no welding.

cheers
