It seems that my starter has eaten the teeth from my flywheel so that it now looks more like a Halloween pumpkin!

A couple of questions, and please forgive my ignorance: Are the teeth actually part of the wheel, or are they pressed on/replacable? If the entire wheel needs to be replaced, what is the general thinking of using a lightened flywheel - worth the effort and money? Any suggestions on where I can find these parts - I have been looking but not seeing them on the usual '02 sites.

Thanks.

the teeth are part of a separate ring that surrounds the flywheel.

A lightened flywheel will reduce the rotating mass and your engine will turn with greater ease thus increasing power to the wheels. In a modified 2002 it would probably be standard to any serious engine build.

Here is a link to a lightened piece; one of many, it was just the first one that came up:

Hope this helps, Z

Not sure if ring gear still available. When I did mine I put my flywheel in the freezer overnight and then heated the ring gear in the oven. It dropped right on with no problem and when it cooled it was on tight. There is a front and rear to the gear, as I recall one side has beveled teeth. I imagine this would go on the starter side.
