The spring on the bottom is the one I recently bought new. The other 2 are used, but the uncompressed length is to spec. Anyone else seen a change in the springs recently? Should I stick with the old style or go with the new one?

Thanks

Nate

I watched a fellow 02-er try installing a new spring, which - curiously - was wound in the opposite direction as the old style. It made installing the cap nut a bit funky, and he stated it felt like the spring wanted to 'unwind' the nut. He went with the original.... -KB

Pleasantly, it doesn't matter all that much.

The spring just makes sure the tensioner works its way out-

oil acts as the real support for the tensioner.

As long as it's in the same ballpark, it should be ok.

I've gotten some aftermarket springs that looked different.

They've all worked fine.
