My 73 track project must go, this time for real. I'm sad to give up on it, but with little progress over the last year I can't justify keeping it.

The project started three years ago when I bought the car as a very clean, dry rolling shell. No engine, transmission or interior. The previous owner had stripped the car and started putting it back together, starting with the subframes, suspension, steering and brakes. All bushings, bearings and seals were new. There were a few small patch welds in the driver foot well, nose and right inner fender. All the critical areas (shock towers, rockers, frame rails) were solid. The sunroof was also welded shut.

The bulk of the work done on the car since has been focused on installing IE Alpina style fender flares. I also cleaned the entire bottom of the car and painted it gloss white.

For two years, the project lived in a nice, dry heated and well lit boat yard where I could weld, wrench and paint to my heart's content. Last year the yard was sold and I had to vacate quickly. Unfortunately, during the transition the car spent a couple of (summer) weeks outdoors. I did my best to keep it covered, but the exposure led to some surface rust, which is evident in the pictures. All of it can be taken care of during body work, and the important areas were not affected. There is no through-rust anywhere on the car.

Presently, the car is being stored in an unheated warehouse with no power. I don't have time to work on it, or the budget to have someone else finish the job. At this point, I'm starting to feel guilty about keeping this car when there must be someone out there with the ambition to realize its potential. I'm also worried that if left unchecked, the rust will eventually get serious.

I would prefer not to sell off the parts and I would like to get $3k for the lot. That said, I will entertain any reasonable offers. The car is located in Chicago and I can help with transport if needed.
