I got caught going 78 in a 55 4 lane road at 12:43 am. What is the best way any of you have found to get out of tickets?

Thanks!

Easiest way to get out of it is don't get caught in the first place, if that means not speeding then don't. If you are going to speed, don't stick out like a sore thumb, run in a pack. Know where they hide.

Once you have the ticket you might as well pay it, unless it was in a construction zone, then you may be able to get out of it if there was no one working at the time.

i think you can also ask the cop/prosecuter (buckeye help me out here) i asked for it when i got 89 in a 65 (the 89 he GAVE me in the first place...)

in PA it's called a 31-11...

you can also go and get your speedo recalibrated to see if it was in fact off that much (but i dunno how that would pan out)

good luck

Your best bet is to wait until almost the last minute and then request a trial. In most areas, police officers are paid overtime to attend court, but are not paid overtime to fill out paperwork. What you're hoping for is that the officer won't complete the paperwork attesting to the 'event' (your speeding), or will have misplaced or lost the relevant notes.

You show up in court, and the case is thrown out. If you get that far, and the paperwork is complete, plead that you were an idiot and won't do it again and hope the judge feels like cutting you some slack.

Good luck

if the cop doesnt show, you're off the hook. if he does, the judge will usually reduce the fine from whatever the letter you recieve says. . .

other than that you cant really 'get out of it' unless there were some larger cars around that you could claim picked up the cops radar. . .and even then chances of 'getting out of it' are pretty dicey.

as far as the speedo re-calibration. . . if you have yours re-calibrated and blame that for your speeding, the fact is you were still speeding.

good luck.

(any info i provided is just through California experience, stuff may vary in your state.)

usually speed tickets are the bottom feeders of the criminal justice system. Still, it is wise to fight a ticket BEFORE you get the last one (the one that kills your license). If you know an attorney you might get him to call the prosecutor and see if they will drop the ticket a little (usually not eliminate it, though). This saves you points, the officer usually doesn't object (unless you are memorable for your poor attitude)and the prosecutor assumes the attorney gets a few $$ for his rent. Option B is to try to get the ticket changed to something else, like reckless driving, but this usually is a WORSE choice, unless you have a drunk driving charge and are desperate to change it to something - anything - else. Showing up when the officer does not sometimes works, but you want it dismissed "with prejudice" if possible, so it won't be refiled or continued. You, of course, must claim to be ready, willing, and able to try your case, and suggest you have been put to financial hardship, etc. if further delay. Web sites give you all sorts of arguements. Be polite, well dressed, blazer and tie are nice, gold chains not, pretend this whole deal is about safety and all involved are jolly fellows.

It was a sheriff.

and try to get a trial during that period. Summer is here( almost), so you might have a good chance at this. Otherwise, balance the cost of the ticket/points/ins. rate increase/etc. v. the cost of a specialist attorney who has a great record of defeating speeding tickets in your area/jurisdiction. After reading the posts about radar detectors, and reading about your current situation, I think I had better make a V-1 investment quickly: the Inka has ZERO stealth; the Sahara has been an easy blend into the scenery.I need some sort of protection or I will be doing the same calculation that you are facing. There are lawyers/firms that have all the methods down for fighting that ticket. There are also some books for sale that go through those methods. BUT, any book cannot give you the contacts/ courtroom experience that may win the day.Good luck///

if this is your first ticket some states let you

go to a one night class. they then drop the ticket

and you insurance co. does not get a report on it.

other wise I think your SOL. besides you were doing

almost 25mph over the speed limit. did the cop give

you a break and lower your speed cause in most cases

if your 25 over the limit the fine is big bucks. I have to admit I like to drive fast at times and I've had my share of tickes. I've learned to slow down. If you do the crime you better be willing to pay the fine.

; ^ )

(damn i'm good)
