So I'm mounting up some ITBs and they bump into the dipstick in a pretty big way. For those that have done similar installations, or perhaps with side drafts, how did you get clearance vs. the dipstick? Bend the tube? Shorten the stick and tube somehow? Is there a different stick which is shorter? Thanks in advance.

Earlier dipstick tube has a rubber bit at the bottom as a result you can move it about a fair bit .I think the later ones had a full metal tube and you cant move it much at all .

The tube from an E30 M10 is already bent at the top. I used one on my EFI conversion with an 318 manifold and it works great. Use the dipstick that comes with the tube.

s14 dipstick tube is bent also. EZ to carefully twist the base so that the dipstick "aims" out the front over the alternator. had to do this to clear the CF airbox on my M2.

This is interesting as I just ordered the one piece dip tube and installed it on my motor. If my ITB's had filters and or an air box it would be right in the way. As it sits now it's right between the front ITB's velocity stack. My plan is to use the foam stocks over the velocity stacks so it might not be a problem but I sure would like it to be bent some more. I was thinking something like a conduit bender would do it. I get the impression that if I tried to bend it by hand it would just kink. I never thought of the e30 or s14 tube. Hmmmmm

This one from an e30 looks better but you need the matching dip stick as the top seal is different.

As I recall, the 2002 dipstick tube is smaller in diameter than the 320i and others. We ended up shortening the tube and dipstick to match.

Of course, you can always do it BMW style and do away with the dipstick. How modern! Remember, there is already that oil change light that comes on when it's time for oil.

Yeah, I used the 2- piece dipstick tube block, didn't use the

upper tube, and made a short dipstick that sits down below the carbs.

Works fine.
