It has been several years since I did mine, but keep in mind that depending upon how toasted the pans are you may end up having to remake the pedal box flange too. I did this on my 72. I replaced the metal up probably 4-5" up the firewall, which included the pb flange. I got my rel=placement floor pan from Jaymic in the UK. Watch out for tax, shipping, duty costs. Oh, and check with Blunt first!

If inexperienced with this, as I was, but I could weld...get and Eastwood catalog and let your fingers do the walking. I took a 4" piece of 1 1/2" copper pipe, pounded it flat and back up the welds with it, where I could reach it. Helps dissapate the heat. good luck!

I have to replace my floor pans and notice that most of the repop driver side pans don't have the holes for the pedal box in them. Is this normal?

Does anyone have a good place to buy them at?

Thanks,

Chad

Ummm...maybe they made a mistake and you got the repair parts for a RHD 2002?

Seriously, the repopped floor pans are "patch panels" and do not have either the pedal box holes or the twist-out drain plugs as do the original floors.

We were stumped about what to do when we found the floor of this Polaris '72tii (VIN 2762084) to be peppered with tiny rust holes. The floor panel is a single piece of metal running from the firewall all the way into the trunk area. It is NOT available from BMW.

So we did the obvious...found an entire solid car and cut away all the body panels except for the floor.

The first picture shows the new floor where it was joined to the firewall (lower left) and new inner A-pillar sheet metal.

The second picture shows the completed and solid floor. It also has new frame rails.

So much metal has been replaced on this project, it may be one of the most rust-free 2002s on the planet.
