Somewhere I saw you post the one photo you took at Lime Rock, not sure if it was here or FB. Well today, I delivered these. I was schooled that it is pronounce "au-bart"

Briggs Cunningham's little 1961 car

The trunk was put up on this structure for downforce. Get that downforce from a 1 litre motor.

I like the DCOE's on that Abarth, but I'm more interested in the 4-cam Porsche Carrera engine in that shop behind the '62. Yummy!

I spy some Porsche-looking aluminum brake drums in that box on the floor.

BTW - Carlo Abarth worked his magic on many vehicles - even Porsche.

The owner had many nice cars, many! Even a BMW 507

Yes, he just finished that Carrera motor.

Bill,

I really like that '61 Abarth. Here is a 1959 Abarth 750GT that I saw last year (note: I don't think there are many of the double bubble Abarths left). It was imported through the Roosevelt Automotive Group owned by Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It was immediately converted from a street car for racing. It was raced at various SCCA events for about twenty years, including Watkins Glen, VIR, etc. It later competed in a lot of Vintage racing events.

I've seen the car in Marc's post above and what impressed me most is how tiny it is. I wonder what it weighs?

Small amount of bandwidth = fun

The Abarth Scorpion logo is one of my favorites.

Here is the Porsche-Abarth collaboration. I would love to see one of these in person and hear it run. Amazing vehicle!

Speaking of Abarth, I scored a NOS Abarth exhaust system a while back for my 70 E3 2800 and it still had all the original Abarth stickers on it, really cool. I took some pics of it before I had it installed on my 2800. Sounds awesome, who needs a stereo, the exhaust note is music to the ears.

Hi Bill! I just saw this posting this morning!

Here's a link to my blog where I discuss my lust for the Abarth Berlinetta at Lime Rock.

It was the *only* car I photographed all weekend.
