Who makes the best carpet sets? Anyone have different sets?

I see several and they all seem good...kind of like women... not sure which one I want to pick and live with... have to try them out first...vicariously of course.

Absolutely no offense to Esty, her carpet sets are decent driver quality, but I've seen a few sets made by this German company and they are vary very nice, restoration quality. They end up using the Mercedes style Wool Loop instead of the BMW, but it is VERY close.

I have also seen carpet sets from World Upholstery and theirs are also rather nice.

Gahh also make a nice set...

The problems lie in the details, material, and the willingness of '02 owners to pay top dollar for "correct" restoration quality carpet material. The exact '02 German Wool Loop has been NLA for years now though there are those on the hunt to have it replicated.

As for the details, If you have an original carpet, any good trim shop worth their salt can copy the details... There are many detail variations in '02 carpet over the production years... I can't even begin or I'd surly loose you in boredom.... :b...

One last issue is the heel pad, there are some very close styles available but same as the carpet material, the original correct style heel pads have been NLA for many years and no one has replicated them yet.

Cheers and HTH,

You have to consider your budget, your needs, and what's available.

I would love an original, NOS, month and year correct carpet set for my tii. However, I know I am going to drive the car every day, get in and out with muddy shoes, and generally abuse and neglect it. Therefore, I don't see myself spending $2000 for a perfect carpet set.

There are those that have the cash, and don't abuse (use) their cars. They could get a perfect carpet set. But, as Tom said, there are details that are not being reproduced, so you have to settle at some point.

I've used WorldUph carpet sets in the domestic loop and cut pile. They are decent, priced right, and fit pretty well. World has been in business for many years, previously as XKSS doing Jags.

I just picked up an Esty set in salt & pepper domestic loop for my car. The construction seems very nice. A little heavier than the World stuff as I recall. I haven't installed yet, but have seen and heard good things. She is also able to do a set in the imported material, but the cost is more. The heel pad is different, but I don't think it detracts as most of us lay down floor mats anyways.

I've seen some GAHH sets in the imported material. They look great, but I believe the cost is quite a bit more.

I got a black carpet from esty. I am very pleased with the set. She was very prompt and very helpful. I give her 5 stars.
