I've heard of people talking about them but my car didnt come with the exhaust manifold so I'm not sure if it's something every car should have or not??? Guest Anonymous
...since the wires would likely get pretty toasted otherwise. If you haven't put the manifold on yet, a gasket with an integral heat shield was used on E30 318s ('84-85) that is supposed to work pretty well. The stock 2002 piece was a cast-aluminum affair that went over the manifold; you should be able to get one used pretty cheap from someone on the board. -Dave Colorado '
Guest Anonymous
Plus it hides the rust ugly ole manifold until i can be arsed to paint it silver P/N 11621723876 or so my receipt says.... I threw the original BMW spec rusty old heat shield as far as i could, so long as your plug wires are too droopy, they shouldnt get hot enough to cause concern. Mine didnt for the few months or so...
