the online ETK gave me the same information, but it definately is a BMW part number. The valve cover has the same number configuration with 118 xxx xx 80.9

It might be that there's a 80.9 on my header too, the 80 and the 9 are a bit more apart. I checked the part number with the decimal point an without computer says no, i assume it's just a old part number.

no, not even close. it would be in the 11 group, but sub group would be 62. then the actual part number would be 7 digits. for example, 1 315 872 is the part nr for exh manifold, E30 M3 evo3. complete part nr would be 11 62 1 315 872. a tii exh manifold would be 11 62 1 265 449. that number on the manifold is way different

It appears to be the manufacturer's casting P/N - not a BMW number. This is also the case on Bosch distributors, for example. The # on the dizzy housing is Bosch's - not BMW's. There are other examples throughout our cars (relays, etc.)
