I affixed heavy duty velcro to the mounting bracket (thanks for the suggestion Bill Williams) and affixed it to the carpeting at front of the passenger seat. The velcro attaches directly to the carpet and holds it in place nicely.

I mounted mine under the front of the passenger seat. Using the two front mounting bolts of the seat, I added in a piece of heavy perforated bar stock. I then mounted the fire bottle bracket to this. I had to cut a slot in the bar stock to allow the outboard slider to pass over it.

Remember that anything inside your car will become a missile if you should overturn. I usually try to keep only soft goods inside the passenger compartment. Anything heavy or hard should be securely mounted.
