Does anyone know anything about a screen (part number, etc) that is positioned at the front pump where the fuel supply enters? Mine doesn't have one though my mechanic says it needs one. I can't find that part in a repair manual I have. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I was told that it wasn't necessary.

Wasn't the 02 that mobile tradition built a tii? That means the part should be available, right? Or did they decide it's not needed. Just remember, this is the company that does not use dipsticks nor recommend fluid changes on diffs and transmissions.

There's got to be a usable part out there. Might be worth someone reproducing and selling to BMW, Alfa, and other fuel injection users.

I still don't know why this little screen is omitted from the diagrams. Konrad at Maximillian - care to investigate?

Thanks to all for the input. I've checked with Bluntech about this and Steve believes the screen may be NLA but has offered to research if we can provide a part number. He also seems to think the deletion of that screen may not be critical.

I'm going to go without one...unless I get a part number and can then locate one.

Years ago I gave a call to Gus Pfister in an attempt to locate a replacement screen. He said they were NLA.

If anyone has a source, I'm sure they were be a number of us who would order up a couple (there's another screen in the fuel pump).

I change the canister fuel filter on a yearly basis and check the fuel tank every couple of years to make sure there isn't any flotsam or jetsam.

That will quickly turn into cashscam.

I just cleaned that screen filter, first time I'd pulled it out in 3 or 4 years. Very clean, no junk at all. Which I take to mean the larger canister filter upstream is (obviously) doing an excellent job.

You may not "need" the screen filter. Which means changing the canister filter more often would probably be a good idea.

Also, earlier this year I added a filter between the gas tank and the new electric fuel pump. Just a bit a personal paranoia to keep tank junk out of the fuel pump, since there was no screen in the fuel pump inlet.

Cheers,

Carl
