Hi Mark, Do you have the part# , I was under the impression that was a NLA part. I have a 75 2002 with the original pillar mounts and a

(M5-.8X30 / 8.8) bolt is a perfect fit and as you can see in the picture the holes are round.

Harry,

I bought one last year... in fact I may have bought two of them. They do, however, look slightly different then yours. I don't they have just a circular hole in them like yours... I think its a larger hole. I will try to look into the part no and list it for you.

*UPDATE*

First off: Harry, YOU ARE THE MAN

Secondly, here is the Video of how I fixed it per Harry's pointers above... wow wow wow

Already fixed both sides in less than 10 minutes total...

NOW I will celebrate by smoking my White Peach flavored Hookah :) ..

Thanks to everyone that tried to help me out here. This board still kicks ass regardless of the once a week troll special..

If you are worried to tighten that hinge bolt too tight and afraid it will break the bracket, loosen it up a tad AFTER you are done securing the two bolts on the door and making sure all is well first. I just did and it is still not popping. Looks like the main issue in this case was the alignment. You are telling the two 10mm bolts to align based on what the hinge says not the other way around. Good Luck.

So I followed Harry's technique and eliminated about eighty percent of the popping noise from my door brake. However, I decided to undo everything again and fully remove my door brake... as I still wasn't satisfied. I found that the top nut integrated into the door brake had cracked and broken... and thus the door brake was really only being held in place by the bottom M6 bolt. I am glad I finally figured out the problem and I guess I be ordering a new door brake.
