I have a '72 tii with the IE stainless exhaust system from the headers back. It's pretty loud already, but I would like it to be louder. I don't want raspy, I just want a loud, growling exhaust. What is the best way to go to achieve this? I was thinking straight pipes. Does anyone have any sound clips of their loud exhaust?

This is my 2002. It's just a small glasspack and some 2" tubing. No muffler. Also, don't mind all the smoke, I recently made it a two-stroke.

New to the 2002, new to working on cars all together.

4" muffler out back, glasspack in the center.

got it...

I run an oe center reso...and a 14 inch long glasspack out back... 2 inch in/ 2 out....its aggressive and loud on over run, and wot above 4k.......cruising is moderate.

Lotsa popping and farting, I love it.

I figgered it was worth trying as GPs are like 20 bux each!!!!..all lengths, sizes etc...

mine w/ a cool lil turndown...

Couple of years from now, you will probably be asking: "How do I make my car quieter? I am deaf at the end of a 300 mile drive."

Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of a growling M10, but after 4 or 5 hours of it, I appreciate peace and quiet.

Enjoy the 4 cylinder symphony.

What???? sorry I couldn't hear you......j/k

hehe.......VERY true. I had my first 02 in 77...it was a 73 and I was 20 yo. It could not be loud enough!

After 1 hr w/ my current glass pack set up , Ive had about enough.

is the popping related to carbs only?

Generally, yes..air-fuel mix is not right... it can mean a lean 'idle' circuit'.

Too much air at the lower end of the curve.
