tii oil filter fitting question

I have a couple of the fittings that bolt to the block and hold the oil filter. One has PUROLATOR cast into it, the other does not. Anyone know if one or the other is "correct" for a 1973 tii?

My '73tii had the PUROLATOR one. I bought the car in 1983 with original engine, so unlikely it had been swapped. I also have a few of the unmarked ones. Would be interesting to know origin of the PUROLATOR part.

My 72" tii engine had a purolator too.

that accepts the oil line running to the K-fish pump. On non-tii's that is just a dimple in the casting, which, incidentallyl is a great place to mount an oil temperature sender.

BMW sourced both the oil filter housing and air cleaner housing from several manufacturers, so your car got whatever Hans or Fritz pulled out of the box that day.

I think both of my engines have the Purolator oil filter housing.
