Hello to everybody! My name is Miguel from Lugo (Spain). I am the owner since November 2009 of the Bmw 1800 TISA number 155 of the 200 ever produced. During last 21 months I have problems to get the genuine documents of the car to make it run again, since last Wednesday the car is legally mine and ready to be restored. I don´t know if there are another TISA´s in Spain but I have saw that in this forum there are many owners of this special car who could help me to restore the car.

The car has been certified by mail by Andreas Harz, Bmw vehicle expertise from Bmw Group Classic (Archives) as:

“The VIN 995155 belongs to a BMW 1800 TISA which was manufactured on May 10th, 1965 and delivered on May 26th, 1965 to the BMW importer Interatlantica Comercial S.A. in Madrid. The original colour was Polaris metallic, paint code 060.”

I have requested the Bmw certificate last week to prove it´s a genuine TISA. The car was first sold in Barcelona in November 16th, 1965. It has his genuine 1965 spanish plates from Barcelona. I have requested also to Bmw the extra options list because I think that the interior and seats finish is not genuine (Could it be finished in white leather from the factory?).

Actually the car shows only 126.000 kms in it´s tachometer but it has been abandoned since 1989 and not covered for about 8 years. The car need complete restoration because engine doesn´t run, the body has holes and oxide, the interior needs a good clean and restoration, ect. It´s complete in 95% but all parts need time, work, money and more work to recover them. I left you some pics of the car:

We have opened the engine this weekend and here we have the biggest problem to restore the car. It has fitted a 121TI cylinder head (from a 2000TI I suppose), not the genuine TISA1 and Noral pistons 84,47 in fact of Mahle 84,47. It´s a pain that I haven´t seen this auction before:

I would need to find a TISA1 genuine cylinder head and Mahle pistons to rebuild the engine… And need Webers DCOE 45 but these are easy to find. Could anybody put a pic of the genuine TISA piston heads?

First, congratulations on finally owning it. I personally am very jealous.

Engine: My immediate recommendation is to pull the current motor and replace with a 2002 motor while you sort the tisa motor out. Also swap the weak ZF transmission with a Getrag from a later car.

Interior: Looks to me like someone has redone the upholstery. I believe all TISA's had the maroon/black seats and door panels. You are very fortunate to still have the Restall seats.

Electrical: I see a 12 volt battery in the pictures. Check all the electrics to ensure they have been converted. TISA's were originally 6 Volt.

Brakes: Brakes are the same as early 2000.

Congrats on your find! I have number 13 and have been restoring it slowly for the last decade! My hood and trunk braces were drilled and I notice your trunk is not. Is the hood drilled out? I am looking for a tach as well. My interior is maroon and black with the original body in bristol gray....

Rich,

I have a reproduction TISA tach (12V) made for me by North Hollywood Speedo. Correct except for no tell tale hand.

Let me know if you are interested.
