Carb upgrade question

Hi folks,

I have a Solex 36-40 on the M10 in my 1973 520. I have an opportunity to get a set of dual Webers from another M10 for just over a hundred bucks.

Knowing very little on the subject, though pleased by the find, I thought I'd solicit some opinions on the matter before I commit.

Manual choke, just like my present setup.

Thanks in advance,

Craig

Really? Is that a Bavaria with an M10???

... and yeah, while one would assume a pair of DCOE's,

there are some oddball setups kicking around out there.

What kind of carbs?

(but $100 is in my 'gamble' budget)

Not a Bavaria. Early 5-series with M10 engine. BMW even made the 520i which had the Kugelfisher injected M10.

Here is the engine compartment of a '73 520i with Alpina A4 injection system

The front timing cover of the 2002tii engine has an additional (unused) threaded stud below the KF pump used to secure the power steering pump on the 520i.

WEBER 40, or 45 DCOE units?

great if you get the needed manifold(s) and operation linkage

otherwise your in for another few $100 more for monifolds,

linkage, air filter

getum tonite for $100 just to sleep with them

a real bargain if they are coming right off of a running motor

if they are in a box, and have questionable history?, missing bits?

then they might just be paper weights!

ask the seller a lot of questions - that's FREE

Sorry to waste your time guys, seems something was lost in translation (literally) and he meant to say a dual weber. Which I assume is a 2bbl.

I suppose my original question still applies... Is it worth the upgrade from a Solex 36-40?

Thanks
