Trunk floor replacement installation query

jerry

Recommended Posts

i was wondering if it is possible to replace the trunk floor without removing or otherwise cutting away either the quarter panels or rear panel?

i'm debating whether to take the plunge or install patches as necessary. either way, it's a lot of work; i know....

thanks in advance

My experience is that no, the floor doesn't fit through from above or below without removing rear panel. If it's not too bad I'd recommend patching. Carefully made patches and butt welding will give nice result.

My trunk is completely gone, the previous owner just covered it up with diamond plate.

My plan is to install a bigger fuel cell instead of replace the trunk floor:

I still want the center exit exhaust on my 76, so my plan is to install the tank off to the side like the stock tank.  A 16 gallon tank should fit nicely.
