2011 2002 Fest North East!!!!

Recommended Posts

The time has come again for 02 Fest Northeast! This year like the last couple will be held during Vintage Festival at Limerock Park 9/4/11. Hoping to see a even larger turn out than years past!

Look for awards for several different classes, good old fashioned dash plaques, tshirts (poss woman's styles depending on response). Come hang out with fellow bretherans, enjoy cool cars (not just 02's), fun conversations and general entertainment of watching 300 cobras rev as they pass our area and blind us with new chrome! Don't forget to quiz the SCR staff on ideas and provisions to keep your 02 road bound for the next generation! Who could ask for more?

We have some 02 world celebs tenativly planned to visit this year to boot!

All new and exciting Facebook page has been created to help orcistrate caravans and keep the latest postings for all! Please visit, add your pictures from past years and post questions, comments and suggestions! Go to face book search 02 Fest North East

Don't think about driving there just do it! If Wegweiser (02 celeb) can drive the f-bomb over 800 miles each way, that's more inspiration than anyone needs! No you say? Check out his f-bomb and story if your not familiar with it already http://paulwegweiser.blogspot.com/

F bomb (just a taste)

Thanks to Sports Car Restoration and staff and "interns" as well as the CCA in advance for planning the event!

Scott -

I would love to go since I've never been to that track (or the event). I hear there aren't many close-by places to stay. I don't possess a sleeping bag nor tent.

Any suggestions for an out-of-towner?

We arrived at the track Sunday around 8 AM/8:30 last year. It's a 5 hour drive for me. (left my house around 3:30?) Charlie Clist and I hung-out Sunday til about 1PM, did the parade lap & then headed home. Worked out great. There's a ticket you can buy to park in the bmw corral Sunday & then do the parade lap. That was a lotta fun.

How far a drive is it for you?

I hold my transponder up to the top of the glass (in hand) and it always works perfectly. Maybe your paint is too shiny.

Your car is shinier than mine. I have tried holding it in my hand near the top of the windshield and it never was picked up, even when driving slowly. I'd hate to pay all those tolls with cash. The one from MD into DE is $ 5.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
