The 6mm fasteners should be torqued to ~18 lbs maximum, the 8mm fasteners should torque at ~24 lbs max (just tight / snug by hand with ratchet).

I think 18 ft lbs on the M6 is way high, esp. for clamping the aluminum cover.

Typical tightening torques for these sizes shown in the service manual are more like:

M6 = 10 Nm (7.5 lb ft)

M8 = 25 Nm (18.5 lb ft)
