Does anyone have a wiring diagram that is big enough to actually read? I have been searching the forum and the rest of the internet and havent been able to locate a decently sized digital one. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The parts dept. manager at my local BMW dealership has allowed me to borrow some very old wiring diagram posters that once hung on the wall at the dealership, in the parts department. The dealership's mechanics would come to the parts department to review these posters when working on 2002s.

I have taken these posters to a company that makes very large prints for architects, engineers, etc. Beside the ability to make very large copies, the company was able to "dodge" out the greasy finger prints and other damage to the posters. I have made just a few copies of these posters. There were only three: '74 2002 tii; '75 2002; and '76 2002.

I haven't had time to get some 2-1/2" dia. tubes for mailing. I gave one print, for a '75 2002, to the Sturdys and this was part of the drawing at the Vintage. The '75 diagram measures 23" x 55".

Shoot me a message if you would like a print, and I'll be back in touch. - Larry

i found a pdf of one somewhere that even had an index. i keep an old laptop in the shop that i put all this kind of documentation on. the zoom feature allows you to may blow up any part of the diagram you want. really ez to follow the wires.....

having it on a laptop instead of a big poster also allows you to carry it to what ever part of the car you are trying to figure out.

but...i may have to get a big cool poster sized diagram, just because it will look good on the shop wall!

I thought I'd resurrect this one since I'm trying to find nice (in color!) wiring diagrams for my 1975 (non-tii) BMW.

The colorwiringdiagrams site has gone 404.

Not sure if the 2002tii.org site's diagrams are relevant to non-tii's...

This link is broken: http://www.bmw2002fa...topic/t,316840/   (btw, as a newbie I wonder why so many of my search hits using Google externally lead to pages that don't exist anymore.  Was there a change in the formatting of the site sometime that destroyed older posts?)

Help!

These are nice http://www.amazon.com/1974-1976-2002tii-Color-Wiring-Diagram/dp/B003BDPWJ2

(Unfortunately, I bought the one for 1972-1973 cars and have a 1976 model).

DISCLAIMER -- I now disagree with much of the timing advice I have given in the past.  I misinterpreted the distributor curves in the Blue Book as timing maps for our engines.  I've also switched from using ported-vacuum to manifold, with better results.  I apologize for spreading misinformation.

Most of the links are inactive.  I'm looking for a  legible wiring diagram for   1972 and 1973 2002.    Mine is a 72 shell but with a 6 fuse 73 harness.  I think.  Lost track somewhere along the way in this resto project.

Thanks!

Curt

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
