turn siganl indicator "B" light

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a '74 2002. The interior indicator "B" light is doing something odd. While all exterior lights function, both for turn signal and four way, the interior "B" light only works completely for four ways and blinks once for left hand turn only and then does not light at all. Does this indicate a fault in the switch, or there some other demon? I appreciate your help and experience,

Please look in the FAQ section. There are several causes which have been well documented, your answer is there, relay, grounds, etc.

Andrew and Bob,

Thanks for the replies. I did look in the FAQ section before asking, however what I found there was causesfor the exterior lights not working or a totally non-functioning "B" light. To repeat, all exterior lights work both as turn signal and as four way. The "B" light works just fine when the four way is engaged, but does not blink at all for right hand turns and blinks once only when the left hand turn is operated. I did not see this fault described at all in the FAQ. If this is a new problem, I will gladly report my findings and, hopefully, solution. If anyone else has any thoughts, they would be much appreciated,

that should cure the problem.

It's the little relay point set (smaller of two) inside the flasher unit--it needs a little cleaning and tweaking, per the FAQ to get it functioning correctly again. If you can't find it or are still stuck, drop me an e-mail and I'll send you the instructions.

I fixed mine 10-15 years ago and it's still functioning properly.

Thanks again for the replies. I will check the grounds of the the front turn signals and clean or replace the relays. I have a parts car available. It just had me perplexed that it would blink once only on left application and not at all for the right, and that it works perfectly for the four ways. I will report back. I did a rust repair at the right front turn signal area today. Thank you all again,

Tony

This is the one that Mike is referring to, I think:

I tried that, with not much luck. I did have some luck with this one:

Got the part they're referring to for like 12 bucks at Advance Auto.

And finally, this site has been a great help for me on my turn signal issues:

Hope that helps.

Mmmm.. I have the same problem.. exactly. I have excellent grounds, new bulbs, good wiring, a new relay unit (the one under the dash by the

hood latch)... so Mike, when you say this:

It's the little relay point set (smaller of two) inside the flasher unit--it needs a little cleaning and tweaking,

do you mean the red emergency button flasher unit in the center console?

Thanks,

Randy
