Are there any good 13 inch street tires left?

I have a deposit on a very nice 72 02' and was wondering if I go through with the purchase what my options are in terms of tweaking the car for taught handling? I would like to keep the appearance close to stock, so nothing over 14 inch, with 13's preferred. Ideally a 185 looks to me like it would fill the fenders nicely and add some rubber.

Trouble is, I suspect no one makes good 13 inch rubber for the street.

Not looking for the harshness of a track tire, and it has to work in 45f temps in the fall. I plan on refurbishing the suspension and linkages completely as the car is still close to 100% original if the sale goes through.

Tia..

I have only ran 13 inch wheels on my 69' over the past 8 years.

Current wheel and tire combos:

13 x 6 MOMO's wrapped in Sumitomo HTR 200 215 50R13's

13 x 7.5 Lenso's wrapped in Kumho Ecsta V710 215 50R13's

For reference, check out the links below.

Toyo still makes the RA1 in a 185, don't they?

That's a really good street tire if you want stick.

It's a shitty street tire if you want 60k miles out of a set.

it's all in how you define good...

I don't care how long they last, but often race tires have very stiff sidewalls which may or may not like the rest of the suspension. Looking to keep some of BMW suppleness, but want the steering very communicative and quick. tire should also be quiet and good in the rain. Tramlining is something I hate. Smooth turn in is a priority .

Seems like you are looking for a stock/close to stock tire. I have used Falken Sincera in 185/70 13 since last fall, excellent rain/dry tire for daily (spirited) driving:

Sprint + vintage tire series, if your preference is for a tire with more of a vintage appearance. The biggest 13" tire currently available in the Sprint series is 165; the only 13" tire currently offered in the Sprint+ series is 205/60.

I've e-mailed Vredestein with a request that they consider producing a 185/70x13 Sprint or Sprint+ - certainly wouldn't hurt for them to get additional requests for this size.............
