Manual sunroof left scratches on paint, how to fix?

Recommended Posts

When I bought my 75 about a month ago I questioned the seller about the scratches on the sunroof. He said that yeah it rubs so he just didn't use it. I'd love to use it and have been searching but not coming up with a definitive answer. Below is a common answer I found when using search

"There's not a lot of vertical adjustment to the sunroof...

and what there is, if I recall, is achieved by bending the roof lip... "

Any additional insight on this matter?

I had a 1975 sunroof car from 1980-1989.

Same trouble as you, it scraped the paint. I tried bending the lip, no help.

I finally said "screw it", I just used the sunroof and kept it waxed really well vs corrosion.

I have recenty bought 2 more 2002s, non-sunroof cars, both.

part of the problem is the plastic ramps that determine the difference between the height of the panel when closed and when openedwear down, and the panels are adjusted higher, which means closer to the roof skin, when closed. this leaves the panel closer to th skin when opened too. the wedges were still available as of january.
