The points?? I can't figure out where they are, and google and the search feature aren't turning anything up...

I'm new to 02's and cars with points/condensers instead of EFI...

find your spark plug wires. follow them back to your distributer cap, pull the cap off (2 metal clips) have a look inside they will be there . there will be a wire attached to them that runs to the condenser(hangs on the outside of the distributer body)

heres an exploded diagram incase you get lost

The cap is the thing with the 5 ignition wires...



Now don't go and confuse things even more, there are only 4 ignition wires and one (5th) coil wire.

That's more to the point.


But like others have said, the points are underneath the distributor cap.

And make sure the key is in the OFF position before you try to measure the gap.

Helping my roommate check his 1960's Nova.

I place my feeler guage in the gap and am met by a blue flash. I yell out from under the hood. "Is the key off?" His reply, "It is now." He bought me new guages.
