Sealing upholstery dye/paint

Couple of years back I installed new seat covers in back seat of my '74 tii. At the same time I painted the side panels with golbi tan from worldwide upholstery. Was cleaning of a little mold with dilute green stuff and it came right off...so did the paint. I NOW know there is a bonding product I WAS supposed to use first. I didn't. Any suggestions other than starting from scratch how to seal dye so it doesn't wash off.
