1972 2002: Now with Megasquirt/ITB Goodness.

The lastest project: roundie side marker lights! This idea had been kicking around for a while, but I finally decided to do it. The side marker lights are from a 1968 Dodge Dart. I modified some more modern light sockets, bought some repro gaskets and made it all fit. The hole for the existing side marker light was just about the right size; just needing a small notch filed in. I think they look great, but I am biased. I'm still going to punch the guy that painted my car and taped everything off. I'll fix the color and permanently fill the holes at some point (right now they have nylon plugs). Enjoy!!

So, I asked what's next? ITBs and Megasquirt, that's what!

I bought this setup from BMP. Interesting that when it arrived, everything had "db" cast into it, but no "dbilas" logos. They were all ground/milled off. No matter; I still have dbilas throttle bodies at the end of the day. Stay tuned!

Nice! Post lots of info as you do MS w/ITBs. It's nice to know you've got Patrick up there to help with the setup/tuning. I'd really want to go that direction in the future.

Could you post a closer up pic of the rear sidemarker light? I was considering something different for my turbo car(practice for a future project). I've got some early volvo 242 side markers which are a bit longer than the '02 ones but much thinner. I'd really like to flush mount them.

Here are some additional photos of the side marker light. As I said, these are OE 1968 Dodge Dart light housings. They are held in place by a body nut. I modified the housings by grinding off a bit with a Dremel. Then I sort of press-fit some modern housings that I got from Car Quest. I bought the gaskets on ebay from a company that remanufactures them for the Mopar crowd. The first set of 194 bulbs were a bit too long (Philips), but I was able to trade with Patrick for a set that he had, which were a little shorter.

Ignore the crud left by the old side marker. I'll get to cleaning it better at some point.

Here is the inside of the trunk, showing the body nut and socket.

How wide is that manifold? I could hook you up with a nice Carbon airbox if you were interested......would look nice.

Hmm; I'd have to think about that. I'm not a huge fan of the dbilas setup, but I'm going to run it for now. Just what I needed, MORE stuff to spend money on!

nice stuff......

what muffler is that?.....I should read the thread to see if u mentioned it.

BMP still sells that set up?........very intetresting.

Thanks. The muffler is a Magnaflow 4" round muffler. I also have a Magnaflow glass pack in place of a resonator. It's a custom run.

I do not know if BMP has these in stock. I bought it on their eBay store. However, if you look at the FAQ store, you can piece together all the components (which will presumably not have the dbilas logos ground off).
