Stock Plastic Fuel Line as a Return Line?

Can I use the stock plastic fuel line as a return line from my M42?

My `67 1600 just has the one line. I added the hard line from a `76 for the feed; I just want to make sure that the plastic fuel line can take the return pressure. I suspect that it can, because there won't be any resistance at the end where it dumps back into the tank.

The fuel pump will be the stock E30 318is 3 bar (43 psi) pump.

That's what Tii's did.... Use the metal line for pressure and the plastic for return. That said, your early car only has a 6mm plastic line. I would swap it for a later 8mm one so you can be sure the volume is handled.
