M2 now seriously for sale

So, my project I started in 2007 and is documented in the car blog section here. Since last year I have contracted SCR to build a class b 2002 race car, purchased a 67 911S, truck and trailer. I need to move my beloved M2 to make room in my garage and cash to actually go racing.

With a touch of sadness........

https://picasaweb.google.com/P.kuchay/M2?feat=directlink

Here are the tidbits:

Started with a rust free one owner 73 2002 purchased in Danville, CA and shipped straight to Sports Car Restoration.

Motor and Drive line-

- S-14 motor sourced locally in Mass from the owner of a BMW tuning shop. $4,000 in parts (shop cost, not retail) went into the top end rebuild, light weight fly wheel and new sachs sports clutch.

- Added custom intake system (velocity stacks and Alpha N)

- Five speed converstion from the same M3

- 3.91 LSD

- Motor mount system fitted with M3 hydraulic motor mount set up

- Drive shaft cut, welded and spin balanced.

Suspension, tires and brakes:

- IE stage two suspension with sway bar kit, shocks and springs. Completely dropped all the suspension out and all new eurathane bushings.

- Massive brakes complete brake package including Wilwoods all around with the largest rotors we could fit into 15inch wheels.

- New master from 760

- All new brake lines

- Rota's 15 wheels with Yokohama tires 195's all around, 80% tread left

- Interior:

- Gutted, Dynamat, added with 325is seats and used carpet kit. Door panels redone and rear seat delete was done to accomodate below sound system.

- Added a twelve speaker stereo system with McIntosh amps (50wpc x 4 and 300 wpc x 1), Dynaudio speakers and JL Audio subwoofers. The stereo alone was $6,000 for the components. This set up puts 4 8" sub woofers in a box where the rear seat was. You can't see them from outside the car.

- New steering wheel (prototipo)

- pedal cluster rebuilt

Steering and gauges:

- All new bushing, arms and rebuilt steering box.

- All gauges went out for rebuilt and or replace. New speedo was sent out and calibrated based on diff and wheels. Added the three gauge package onto a new dash, which has no cracks.

I could go on and on and on.......I have receipts totaling over $55,000. That doesn't inlclude the stereo system.

I did not do final paint yet because I wanted to put the car on the track. Now that I have gone in the other direction it's time for this car to find a happy new owner. It's sorted, reliable, fun to drive and extremely well maintained. Cosmetically the car is solid but will need a new carpet kit and paint to be considered "restored". As it sits now it's shiney, crome is solid and everything works.

Anyone interested please send me a message or call Sports Car Restoration and speak with Matt McGinn about the car.

It would be nice to see the car go to someone who is an 02 enthusiast. This car is a step above the most recent round of M2's that have changed hands. The project was done with an open check book and no expense spared philosophy.

Asking $28,000

Thanks guys. Yes, I thought about waiting another year for the 02 race car but we have some great tracks around the Denver area and I didn't want to sit on the side lines another year. The truck and trailer combination is a divorce situation and was too good of a deal to pass up. 2002 Chevy Silvarado 2500HD with 42,000 miles and a 2007 Atlas 24' trailer fully decked out with every option possible including AC. They are a matched pair and all set up for each other.

Buyer backed out.....guys if you are seriously interested and say so I take that as your word that you are actually going to do what you say. I held off a local buyer waiting for a wire xfer.....and waiting......and waiting....please don't waste my time. I gave this guy first right of refusal and he never followed through. We are all adults here. Act like one.

Local buyer is still trying to figure out what he wants to do. Ebay when I get back from Singapore. The car must go.

Regards,

Paul

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
