Do we all have engine droning?

The engine on my generally stock 4-speed '76 '02 runs reasonably quietly, except around 3000-3500 rpm, it drones loudly in any gear. At lower and higher spins, it quiets down - well mostly. I have added sound insulation in the floor and most way up the interior firewall, but it hasn't helped all that much. Is this typical, and what can be done to reduce it? Or is this just the nature of the beast?

That is usually the sign of no resonator or one with the gus blown out. i run no rsonator and get that at about 3300-3500 rpm. Not bad but slight drone. i did not have a drone with the ansa resonator but i got rid of it because it rattled like a pig and is so thin it kept getting small cracks
