What to do when you see 02s unused on someones driveway?

I'm sure some of you guys have found good deals but knocking on doors or leaving notes on windshields. These 4 squaries have been in the same spot near downtown LA for a while, flat tires, expired tags, etc. But it's sunny SoCal so it's not rusting away. The Inka 02 has M badges (s14 maybe??) and some recaros. The others all look slightly modded too. I wanna start knocking on doors but I'm not ready to do a take-it-all deal. Belong to anyone here?

I just leave a note under the wiper blade asking if the car is for sale. That's how I managed to score my current Euro spec 70 E3 2800 for $300 when I saw it parked on the street in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles six years ago.

http://www.coupeking.com/product_id-407.html I've put a lot of money into it since I bought it but I immediately recognized the 2800 as being straight and rust free when I first saw it.

Mike Self found one sitting (endlessly) on a driveway not far from his house. It's a fjord squaretail, but rust never sleeps here in the rustbelt. We talked to the owner. Mike told him he'd try to find some one who was eager to tackle a BIG project. It's all there, but neglect is costly here in Ohio. I'd say it will be cheep, cheep, cheep!

There is also a '75 automatic here in Kettering that sits neglected on the driveway. Supposedly, the garage has another '02 plus reems of parts, but the eccentric owner won't talk to me. I spoke to his wife and she wants to be rid of all the '02 stuff.... Maybe Mike can work his magic on this dufus.

sitting so long the flat tires have split open; I offered him a set of 4 worn but air-holding Avid T4s for free, but never heard back from him so I tossed 'em. I check back every so often, but it's gradually mouldering away...

I used to want to leave a note or find the owner. Now I resist, keep driving and let the next guy save it.

That's too bad there are four sitting out there like that. Even though rust is not an issue, baked interiors are. My first tii sat out like that for 6yrs and the saddle interior crumbled when i touched it, and the carpet was completely faded where exposed. Black widows and mice also make them their home.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
